As of the beginning of 2024, the new Rescue Act transfers the responsibility for purchasing and maintaining smoke detectors in residential units to the building owner. The transition period continues until the end of 2025.
To ensure compliance with the law and the property’s fire safety, your housing company has arranged for the installation of new smoke detectors in accordance with standard SFS-EN 14604 in all apartments. The installations will be performed by firefighter installers who hold the qualifications required by rescue legislation.
If necessary, please make sure there is enough space around the designated areas for installing the smoke detectors.
The installers will leave old smoke detectors in a visible place in the apartment, for example on a table.
They will also leave a notice containing instructions on how to test and acknowledge the functioning of the new smoke detector.
