As of the beginning of 2026, the responsibility for purchasing and maintaining smoke alarms has shifted from residents to building owners (i.e., housing companies). As a result of this change, residents remain responsible for reporting any faults detected in smoke alarms as soon as possible.
To ensure compliance with the law and the property’s fire safety, your housing company has arranged for the installation of new smoke detectors in accordance with standard SFS-EN 14604 in all apartments. The installations will be performed by installers who hold the required expertise.
If necessary, please make sure there is enough space around the designated areas for installing the smoke detectors.
The installers will leave old smoke alarms in a visible place in the apartment, for example, on a table.
They will also leave a notice with instructions on how to test and confirm the new smoke detector’s operation.
